Overview
Ledger Live is Ledger’s official desktop and mobile application for managing accounts, sending/receiving crypto, and connecting to Web3 services. Always download Ledger Live from Ledger’s official pages and verify signatures when available. The app pairs with your Ledger hardware (Nano S / Nano X / Stax) and never asks you for your recovery phrase.
Quick Login Flow (steps)
- Download and install Ledger Live on your device.
- Open Ledger Live and choose Get started. Select your Ledger model.
- Connect your Ledger hardware via USB or Bluetooth and enter your PIN on the device.
- Open the Accounts tab and add accounts to sync balances and transactions.
- When signing a transaction, confirm only on your physical device.
Why the device matters
Private keys are stored inside the Ledger secure element (the hardware chip on the device). Signing operations require physical confirmation on the device — this prevents remote theft even if your computer is compromised.
Security best practices
- Download Ledger Live only from the official Ledger site and verify the binary/signatures if you can.
- Never enter or share your 24-word recovery phrase — Ledger will never ask for it in the app.
- Keep firmware up to date via Ledger Live and check official release notes.
- Use a PIN on your device and store your recovery phrase offline in a safe place.
- Be cautious of phishing — confirm domain names, and don’t install unofficial apps.
